Supporting Trauma Recovery Through Collaborative Care

At Sexual Trauma Counselling Perth, we understand the critical role general practitioners and healthcare professionals play in the early identification and ongoing support of individuals impacted by sexual trauma and complex trauma histories. Our counselling service provides trauma-informed, evidence-based care to adolescents (13+) and adults, offered both face-to-face in Perth and via secure telehealth across Western Australia.

Patients who we work with

We support clients who have experienced:

  • Childhood sexual abuse

  • Sexual assault or recent sexual trauma

  • Complex trauma and PTSD

  • Co-occurring issues including anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, emotional dysregulation, relational difficulties, and dissociation

 

Many of our clients present with:

  • Difficulty trusting others or engaging in care

  • Shame and self-blame

  • High levels of distress and emotional dysregulation

  • Trauma-related somatic symptoms​

Our Approach

EMDR, attachment, trauma recovery, and PTSD

Our therapeutic approach is grounded in:

  • Trauma-informed Practice

  • Phase-Oriented Therapy

  • EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

  • Attachment-Based and Relational Frameworks

  • Psychoeducation and Stabilisation Techniques

 

We work collaboratively with clients to pace treatment appropriately and maintain emotional safety throughout.  â€‹
